Default Convert text to clipart

How can I convert text into clipart? For example, I have the word SMAGS
using a fun font and I want to be able to move this word around on the page
and put it on top of a clipart picture, so don't I have to convert it to
clipart in order to pull it all around the page (i.e. like clipart pictures
using the square layout)?

Thanks.

Use WordArt to create the text as a moveable item.

Yes, but how do I color it? I want each SEPARATE letter in the word SMAGS to
be a different color.

You should have done that with a graphics program.

Copy the WordArt, paste special as a .wmf, ungroup, you now can fill each letter
with a different color.
