Default symbols

Hi all,
Can someone tell me what the filename extension of symbols is? (the symbols
in word).
I am in need of networking symbols to do a LAN diagram. Does anyone know of
any that are available or how I can search the web for them.

The symbols come from fonts installed in the Windows Fonts folder.
