Default Form field formats

I have created a Word template that allows users to fill in certain text
fields. However it seems as though the font is defined and not changaeble as
the user is filling out the fields. Is it possible to allow the user to
change parts of the field to bold, or change the colour. Also is it possible
to allow the user to use bullet points?

If these are form fields then no. A possible alternative is to use
macrobutton fields http://www.gmayor.com/Macrobutton.htm

If you want the user to be able to format part of a form, insert a
separate section and leave it unprotected.
