Default Long captions

I have long figure captions which won't fit in the space provided in the
insert captions box. Is there any way around it? (Word 2003)

Default Long captions

Insert the Caption then add the extra text to the page.
A Caption is only a paragraph formatted with a caption style and numbered
with a SEQ field.
