Only O2003 installed on computerConverting (with Office 2007 compatibility
pack) a WD2003 doc to WD2007 xml and back again removed all my AutoText entries. How can this be avoided (please **assume no access to the original 2003 file** !!! Only O2003 installed on computer.) /S |

Hi Serge,
Was this a .doc or a template file (.dot). The Autotext entries from Insert=Autotext are generally stored in templates and the Compatability pack does not support Word 2007 template formats, only documents. The .xml save is a Word 2003 feature. The .docx and .docm (active content format) are the zipped XML formats from Word 2007. Are those the choices you're referring to from File=Save As, when you mention Word 2007 XML? If not, what are the exact steps you're following? ================== "SergeRD" wrote in message ... It is a template file. Whats the point with supporting only the document
format... :-o So I can assume that exporting to WD2003 and then importing in WD2007 and vice versa should not work too? Will try it anyway. S |

Hi Serge,
Word 2007 can open and use Word 2003 templates (.dot) files. Word 2003 with the 2007 Compatability pack cannot use Word 2007 template files (.dotx or .dotm). They are apparently more complex than was configurable in the current release of the compatability pack. ================== "SergeRD" wrote in message ... It is a template file. Thank you for your kind answers Bob.
So to sum it up: The compatibility pack converts everything except Autotexts from Wd2003 (or older?) to WD2007. And vice versa everything but the autotext-ersatz solution goes the other way. Best /S |
