Cannot see any thing in Word!!!!
Hi,
I cannot see the whole text in my document. I had a large document and I was updating it. I saved the file and when I opened again, now I can only see references from the document which are added as endnotes and no other text. The document at the moment is only 26 pages but the size is 44MB. In the document map I can see all my headings but no text. I tried to print, it prints only 26 pages, i tried to convert it to PDF and it only converts those 26 pages. Any suggestion how to overcome this problem. Unfortunaltey I dont have a backup copy?? Thanks |

Hi Bivragh,
Try going into Tools|Options|View and checking 'hidden text'. If your text now appears, then the problem is that you've somehow managed to format the font as hidden. Removing the 'hidden' attribute (Format|Font) should fix things. Cheers -- macropod [MVP - Microsoft Word] "Bivragh" wrote in message ... | Hi, | | I cannot see the whole text in my document. Hi Bivragh,
In that case, you've somehow managed to embed all your text inside a Word field! The best solution here would be to select all of the text except for the field braces at either end, cut it from the field, then paste it anywhere outside the field braces. Then delete the field braces. Cannot see any thing in Word!!!!
Hi,
Thanks Yeh I think thats the problem, there is a field bracket from table of content to the reference. I tried as you suggested but the problem with doing is that I loose all my caption numbering. My headings are numbered correct but table and figure are numbered all the same. i.e. dont increase in number Is there any other way to remove the word field Thanks "macropod" wrote: Hi Bivragh, In that case, you've somehow managed to embed all your text inside a Word field! Hi Bivragh,
Have you tried refreshing the caption numbering? To do that, select them and press F9. If that doesn't work, it suggests Word's cross-references for them have remained in the errant field. If so, I suspect the potential for the document becoming corrupt has increased somewhat, and it might be best to insert a new para at the end of the document, copy all of the document except for the problem field and the new last para, and paste into a new document. Then rebuild the numbering and your TOC. Cannot see any thing in Word!!!!
Hi,
I as you suggested I copied the whole document excpet table of content but there was problem with numbering of figures. I inserted new figure and updated and it is working fine now. Just wanted to know do you have any idea what could have been the problem and what should be done to avoid it in future. Thanks "macropod" wrote: Hi Bivragh, Have you tried refreshing the caption numbering? To do that, select them and press F9. Cannot see any thing in Word!!!!
Hi Bivragh,
It's unlikely to have occurred of its own accord. So to avoid it, be careful not to type within or, more likely in this case, drag anything into, an existing field - unless you know what you're doing.
