It's painfully tedious, but yes, it can be done. - Display the Drawing toolbar. - Click the Draw button at left and select Grid. - Set the vertical grid spacing to the distance you want between the lines (for example, if your text is 12 pt size, set the grid to 14 pt vertical spacing). Check the box for "Snap objects to grid". Click OK. - On the menu, click View Header to open the header area. - Select the line drawing tool from the Drawing toolbar. - Draw a line across the page under the first line. The snap-to-grid will help you to make the line exactly horizontal. - With that first line selected, press Ctrl+C to copy it, and then press Ctrl+V to paste it. Drag the pasted copy to the correct position below the second line. - Hold Shift while clicking to select both lines. Copy and paste and drag so you now have four lines in position. - Copy and paste the four lines, and position the copies so you now have eight. Continue to copy and paste until you've filled the page. - Double-click outside the header area. The lines will be gray on screen but will print black (or whatever color you apply to them). By anchoring the lines in the header area, they won't affect the text you type or move around with the text. They'll also repeat on each page if your document grows. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
