I default to Can English, then whenever I paste something from another
source, it switches to US English, and it's really annoying. Please, if I change default to Can English, let it stay there...for all time. |

![]() Hi, Im thought I'd try this as in Word2003, as I often find myself losing persoanl settings in Word as for some myterious reason Word has switch to US English from UK English. But what you forgot to mention was that after making this change, one looses all one's Auto Correct settings from the previous Normal.dot, and well as many other settings. I have about 150 Auto Correct options set for Sanskrit diacriticized terms, and now I will have to spend about two days re-inserting them all. I looked to see if my previous Normal.dot was around, but can't find it. So it would be good advice to save one's Nornal.dot BEFORE doing this change. Hi, me again. Using Norton, I've just found my old deleted Normal dot file
- now called Normal.dot.Old - and although many of my customizations are now back, the important AutoCorrect customizations as well as all my keyboard shortcuts are still missing - obviously they are not in Normal.dot. Any idea where these things are stored? Thanks, Robert "Sagara" wrote: Hi, Im thought I'd try this as in Word2003, as I often find myself losing persoanl settings in Word as for some myterious reason Word has switch to US English from UK English. AutoCorrect entries (except formatted ones) are not saved in Normal.dot but
in .acl files, one for each language. If you change languages, you are using a different .acl file. Keyboard shortcuts, however, should be saved in Normal.dot. But I don't understand how Normal.dot comes into this in the first place. I don't see anything in http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm that suggests renaming Normal.dot (or doing anything with Normal.dot other than changing the default language setting through the Word UI). -- Suzanne S. ![]() Yes, you are correct, there is nothing at http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister/LangFmt.htm that suggests changing the Normal.dot. But if you follow the instuctions for changing to UK English only in Windows, Word, and Microsof Office/Office Tools ... where you have to insert the Office 2002 CD, then it does change one's Normal.dot - I checked this through the date of its origin, which was today. But anyway, it was the loss of the AutoCorrect entries I had been using, and all my keyboard short cuts disappearing that was the big problem. But this has now been solved - I remembered that the last time I changed HDDs, I found a macro on the web that was designed to transfer the Word AutoCorrect file from one HDD to another. Fortunately, this and my old AuotoCorrect.doc were in my own My Docs file, which I copy everyday, and so I run the macro in Word -reducing the Macro security to run it - and I'm now a happy man!
