I'm merging data of 250 people into a directory - on preview all the first 20
or so are there (haven't checked further). Complete the merge to a new document and some of the first 20 just disappear. I use an Access table for the source data and I've tried converting it to a Word doc but the same thing happens. Which ones get lost varies with where they come in the list - ie if I take out the first two recipients then I lose different people. It worked with Windows 98SE & Word 97. I now have XP & Office 2003 and can merge envelopes with no problem using the same data. -- JDA |

Exactly how do you have the main document set up?
-- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. Doug Robbins - Word MVP "JDA" wrote in message ... For a Directory type mail merge, you do NOT need the Next Record field.
As a result of including it, you will only get every other record when you execute the merge. -- Hope this helps. The main document is set up in the directory format, as follows: «No» «Title» «Prenom» «Surname», 10 Xxx Xxxx, Harlow, Essex CM17 0HF «Next Record» Hope this makes sense - this won't let me show all the field codes which might have been useful since there are some "If....then... Else" arguments. -- JDA "Doug Robbins - Word MVP" wrote: Exactly how do you have the main document set up? -- Hope this helps. Many thanks.
It wasn't consistently every alternate one that went missing and without the NEXT command it came out as one long entry. An extra carriage return in place of the NEXT RECORD field has solved the problem. -- JDA "Doug Robbins - Word MVP" wrote: For a Directory type mail merge, you do NOT need the Next Record field.
