Greetings to my guru friends,
I have a document with Footnotes at the bottom of each section.
I do NOT want to see a line separator when the footnotes start or
continue to following pages. I'm using Word 2000 on XP Home. How do
I get rid of the lines?

(Change to) normal view, then View | Footnotes (if your document does
not contain any footnotes, that should bring you the endnotes in a
second "frame" on the bottom).

Now, in the dropdown window there, chose the separator. In the area
below, you select the line and delete it. Same for continuation line.

Voilà.

If you're putting them at the end of each section, they're not footnotes but
endnotes. Using the information contained in Bob Franz's post, delete the
Endnote Separator and Endnote Continuation Separator. You'll probably also
want to format the font or paragraph line spacing to 1 point to keep the
empty separator paragraph from taking up unwanted space.
