Default Text form field

I am using word trying to make an assessment form for the mental health
center, I have it where I want it but everytime I make a text field box (one
to fill in) it pushes the line father out pushing the whole document down. I
want to have it just have enough characters to fill the line and not push the
other text out...is that possible.

Thanks,
RJ

Default Text form field

Double click on the text field and change the number of characters that are
allowed in the text box.
