I would like to be able to print a document without the fields being updated
(in 2007). These fields are several TOCs that I have taken from several different documents and wish to print them as a guide document retaining their page references. When I come to print, the updating means that the page number is substituted by error bookmark not defined I have ensured the word options of update flields (and links) before printing is unticked Is this a bug in 2007? Thanks -- melthamdave |

In this instance, you need to unlink the fields (using Ctrl+Shift+F9) before
printing. If you wanted to maintain live links (which in this case you don't), you could lock the field using Ctrl+F11 (unlock with Ctrl+Shift+F11). Some fields are always updated at print time, even if you have "Update fields" disabled, but the TOC field is not (usually) one of them, so I don't know why it's updating. -- Suzanne S. Suzanne - i had the same trouble and it seems to be getting past the table of
contents but then wonts to update the table of figures and table of tables and then goes back and bookmarks the whole table of contents. Anyway your trick on locking the fields worked! Will write that one down!! Thanks -- Hayley "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: In this instance, you need to unlink the fields (using Ctrl+Shift+F9) before printing. Glad I could help. Yes, if you have more than one TOC, Word will want to
update each in turn. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "Hayley" wrote in message ...
