Hello!
I have an RTF document, originally created in Word 2004 Mac. I have been working on it in Word 2007 (on Win XP SP2). Every time I hit 'Save' or Ctrl-S or whatever, I get a (shudder) Compatibility Warning which reads, "Some custom properties that are stored in this document will be lost. Click 'Continue' to save..." Where does this come from, and can I turn it off? It is most annoying, and the document is fine. I can open it on the Mac or in Word 2003 on my laptop. It really messes up the flow to have to mouse-click every time I hit Ctrl-S. Could this be because my document template (custom) contains the "Page Break Before" attribute to one of its styles? I could lose that, if necessary, and use manual page breaks. I note that the template, which I opened and resaved on the Wintel box (it was created on the Mac), does not have its proper icon in the New Document dialog. TIA, Les |

Try running the Compatibility Checker. Office button - Prepare -
Compatibility Checker. This should give you additional information on what it's talking about (hopefully). It should also let you turn off the automatic check when saving. To turn this off when saving documents in Word 97-2003 formats, remove the check next to Check compatibility when saving in Word 97-2003 formats" in the Compatibility Checker dialog box. It's not clear to me whether this will halt if from checking a Mac document (since I don't know how/if that format differs from Word 2003 format), but it's worth a shot. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Poliwog" wrote in message oups.com...
