Default Acess Denied in property function

I am trying to remove a READ ONLY function in documents. I was told how to
acess this by accessories/Windows Explorer/Properties, etc.
However, when I do this I receive the following message:
An error occured applying attributes to the file
D:\2007-2008 RE Address List.xls
Access denied

What else can I do? I am the creator of this document and created it on my
desktop (Windows 2000, Office 2000) and trying to transfere the data onto
another desktop computer with Windows 2007/Office 2007).
I really really need some help.
Thanks,
Edwina
