I have Windows XP and Word 2003. When I try to "save as" and select my
CD-R/Write drive I get the error message, "Word cannot save or create this file. Make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected or damaged." It's a brand new CD (and I've tried several) so I know it's not any of the above. |

You must save to your hard drive. Then copy it to your CD.

In addition to what Chuck says, never Open/Save directly to any removable media.
