Default Others opening 2007 MS Word docs

I have sent 2007 MS Word documents to others, and they cannot open them. What
should I do to ensure they can open these 2007 documents if they do not have
MS Word 2007?

You need to do a Save As and change the file type to a Word 97-2003 version.

You should choose Office button - Save as, and save the files in Word
97-2003 (*.DOC) format.

You can also set Word 97-2003 as the default format (Office button - Word
Options - Save tab).

Another alternative would be for the "others" to obtain and install the
Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. However, it seems a bit much to offload the
chore to them when you can solve the problem by saving in a format they can
use.

Hope this helps...

Perfect answer. But the Save As feature no longer appears as a choice. How do
I find the Save As feature?

I found the Save As function. I didn't realize the purpose of that flashing
icon in the top corner.

By "flashing icon" I wonder if you mean the Office button. I've also heard
it called the "pizza button". But, I think I'll pass on pizzas that have
blue toppings. ;-)
