I am using heading styles and levels. But at level 2 I get 1.1 followed by
2.1, or 1.1 followed by another 1.1 and so on. Level 2 numbering is a mess. Am I doing something wrong in my number format box? |

In the Define New Multilevel List (Word 2007) or Customize Outline Numbered
List (Word 2003) dialog box, delete and then recreate the contents of the "Enter formatting for number" (Word 2007) or "Number format" (Word 2003) box. When you're getting "1.1 followed by 2.1," you've placed the Level 1 number
(Legal style) BEHIND the Level 2 paragraph number. Here's how to avoid that: (1) select the number style for Level 2. Type a period to the left of the Level 2 number field, then put the cursor to the left of the period. Then click the Legal style numbering box and insert the Level 1 number field. Your Legal style numbering will now work the way it's supposed to. Cyndie Browning Tulsa, OK "DP" wrote: I am using heading styles and levels.
