Default Form Field Boxes, i think?

Hi all! I am new to Word 2007 and I am having some problems. I work for a
company where we have a form where before, we used word from 1998, when you
used the lock/unlock button boxes came up and you could fill in information
like name, date, etc that was going to appear throughout the document. In
Word 2007, I can get it to do that but only after I hit the print command.
Is there a way to do this without having to use the print command?
