Exporting settings/preferences from Word 2002 to Word 2000
Word 2000 and Word 2002 are different versions, so differences in available
options should come as no surprise. The ability to show tracked changes in "balloons" was added in Word 2002. I don't recall if there are other changes, as well. However, if you want Word 2002 (or later) functionality on your laptop, I'm afraid that you'll need to install that version of Word on it. To answer your question more directly... You can transfer some settings by using your Word 2002 normal.dot file with Word 2000 (but not everything will work right or the same). Other settings/preferences cannot be transferred since they're different programs... and might even cause Word 2000 not to work properly, assuming there were a reliable method for transferring settings from 2002 to 2000. For one thing, they use different registry entries for the most part, making this a tenuous proposition at best. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "7h95g" wrote in message ... I have Microsoft Word 2002 SP3 running on winXP pro desktop and Word 2000 (Microsoft Office 2000) on a laptop. Can I export all the Word settings/preferences from the desktop to the laptop? My primary problem is that the Word version on the laptop doesn't seem to have the same options available in Track Changes. Any help or suggestions gratefully received, Tony |
