Default why does it ask to save a file as an xps instead of just printing

I am frustrated by office word 2007. I try print a document and it asks me to
save it as an xps document first. I have to retype a name for the file, save
it, then open the document then ask it to print. It will not print it
automaticly.
I am very frustrated.
