first go to Tools\Options\Security tab uncheck "Make hidden markup visible
when opening or saving" the from reviewing toolbar clcik on show and uncheck all the items that you don't want to see each time you open a word document and save the document. Nexy time when you open this document all the markups will be hidden and you can turn them on by show by reviwieing toolbar -- Best regards, Harvey "lpeterson" wrote: how do i get a document to stop showing me markups when i open it? i can turn off the show mark ups after it's open. i never did have this particular doc show changes. |

I can't think of any reason why shouldn't this procedure working for you!?
did you hide all the markups before saving your document? -- Best regards, Harvey "lpeterson" wrote: i did everything you said, saved it, but upon reopening, it's still showing all the formatting. the show/ still has all the things i unchecked. Are you referring to "markup" created by the Track Changes feature or
"formatting marks"? If the latter, you can toggle them using the Show/Hide ¶ button, but if your setting isn't preserved, see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm. -- Suzanne S. not show the track changes. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: Are you referring to "markup" created by the Track Changes feature or "formatting marks"? To stop tracking changes, accept the changes made and then turn off the
Track Changes feature for the document.
