Default Word 2003 Vs. Word 2007

Both can produce words on paper - there the similarities end. Word 2007 is
radically different in presentation. Will it make the production of your
documents easier? Probably not. If you are a Word 2003 power user, then
definitely not. There is a steep new learning curve. Whether you want to put
in that effort only you can decide. Why not download the Office 2007 trial
and install it alongside Word 2003 (see
http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm which explains how) and see
how you get on with it. Don't install Outlook 2007 unless you are sure you
want to make the change permanent.

I've used Word 2003 for several years and got Word 2007 just this week
and have been working with it for several days. I spent all day
yesterday working with it. I like 2007. It rates high in the cool
category. And going forward I think everyone will find it more
enjoyable for that reason.

But once you click on your icon, the control boxes that come up look
just like the ones in 2003. So the face of 2007 looks different, but
all the basic controls once you drill down to where you need to be
appear to be mostly the same. Also, I believe all the frustrations
that came with 2003 will be there with 2007, such as (for those of use
who don't use them every day) with headers and page numbers. I got
that figured out, but I spent all day yesterday working on it.

Yeah, it seems to me that 2007 is the same girl as 2003, but with a
prettier body.

It may appear to be the case on the surface but under the hood it's entirely
a different woman. Some features have undergone a much needed overhaul and
new functionality has been added. She just might turn against you if you
don't respect her for her mind.grin

I do respect her. I thought she was pretty nice even before.

But did you respect her for her mind or her body? lol

(btw, if you haven't figured it out, I'm totally joking around here. ;-) )
