Default REPLACE tab grayed out and mouse not working

On the Find and Replace box, the REPLACE tab is grayed out.

Also, the mouse is not working. Cannot click or right click - must use up
and down arrows on keyboard.

Using Microsoft Office 2003 / Word 2003.

Does Word work correctly if you start in Office Safe Mode (hold down Ctrl
while starting)?
