Default VERY slow typing in track changes

Current situation:
- We have two branch offices running Word 2007.
- Branch one: When track changes is turned on, typing is extrememly slow and
unresponsive in Word.
- Branch two: No problems with track changes or any other features at all.
- When IT department uses VNC (remote desktop) to connect to branch one
(from branch two) to get users to demonstrate the slowness, the issue
dissapears (i.e. it is no longer slow). They are able to use track changes
without any slowness
- When VNC is disconnected, branch two users are still using track changes
fine until word is closed down and opened up again.

Does anyone have any suggestions why this is happening? Is there a certain
process that Word uses to turn on track changes? Because as soon as the
UltraVNC.exe process kicks in, word forgets about being slow and does its
normal thing.

I would guess it's video related then. Try this out:

Adjust Video Acceleration
1. Start | Settings | Control Panel - Display
2. Settings tab - Advanced button
3. Troubleshoot tab - adjust Hardware acceleration slider to None.
4. Click OK and OK again.
5. Exit Word, open Word, and try track changes again

Default VERY slow typing in track changes

Thanks for your posting. Unfortunately this was not the solution, it made it
slower.

After more playing around, it looks like it is a 'review' tab problem, not
just the track changes. Luckily, we have found a temporary workaround. After
the track changes have been turned on, the user will need to click to the
home tab and this will get it back to normal speed. Unfortunately when you
need to approve/reject the changes (moving back to the review tab) it will go
back to the slow speed.

It doesnt fix the problem, but it is a temproary workaround while MS find a
solution.

I just did a post exactly the same as this and then found your workaround is
the answer. Has there been any patch from MS that you know of to fix this.

Thanks in advance

Dan
