In Word 2007, if I try to enter a field code manually, it does not
work: when I use Shift+F9 or Alt+F9, the field code disappears and I get a blank space instead of the "result". I am inserting the field code using Ctrl+F9. I think I have the syntax right; for example, FileName \p to show the file name and path. I am beginning to think that there may be a corruption in some registry value or file. If I insert the field codes via the ribbon (Insert|Quick Part|Fields), I do not have a problem, but sometimes it's just easier to do it manually. David |
