using Windows 2003 - I am inserting cross references to TABLES in a sentence
such as "See Table 13, Summary of Capabilities below for more detail" where "Table 13, Summary of Capabilities" is the caption of the table. In about 2/3 of these cases in my document Word inserted a Carriage Return (i.e., "enter") after the table caption in the sentence which not only breaks the sentence in the middle, forces it on to two lines, but causes all following lines to shift down a line and at the end of the page the last line is forced to the next page. Anyone know why? I have many examples of this, plus examples where it doesn't happen. Also, when I correct the bad examples Word re-inserts the Carriage Return! by the way, this same problem does NOT happen when I do the same for inserting cross references to FIGURES - only to TABLES |
