Default How do I 'un' split a table?

I design quite long multi-page documents (lessons) using tables and quite
often the table seems to split (columns misalgined) for no apprent reason

Is it possible to 'un'split a table without creating a whole lot of new rows
and copy/pasting?

I have noticed that sometimes it's possible to line up the columns manually
and it begins to act as one table again - is this a clue?

Usually, holding the Alt key (to override the grid settings) and dragging
the affected column border(s) fixes these issues (usually caused by using
cut and paste to merge different-sized tables).

Of course, if the table is really split, there is a paragraph mark (¶)
between rows; to merge the table in such a case, you would have to delete
the paragraph mark first. You may want to show nonprinting marks
(Ctrl+Shift+8) to make this task easier.
