Default can't save

I just installed Office 2007. Excel seems to save normally, but in Word,
both Save-As and Save opens the OPEN dialogue box, not the Save As dialogue
box.

I found 2 normal.dotm files and deleted them both, but the problem is the
same. I still have Office 2000 on my computer (XP PRO service pk 2), and it
still saves correctly.

Could someone please tell me what to do?

Thanks,
Sheila

Also, no file types show up! Is this an installation problem?
