I want to be able to remove all mail merge formatting from a document and
keep the text. I haven't found an answer to this seemingly simple challenge. It's like no one would ever want to go back once you have set any words to mailmerge. ThankYouVeryMuch for this forum & explanations. |

Make a backup copy of your document before trying this.
Select the entire body of the document (e.g. ctrl-A), and "unlink" the fields using ctrl-shift-F9. Most field codes will be replaced by their results. If you need to do headers and footers as well, you need a bit of VBA to loop around everything. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "Perry48" wrote in message ... That is so simple - I wonder why I couldn't find it in the commands or
anywhere in help. I can just use Find & Replace then to also remove the & characters. ThankYouVeryMuch Peter, Perry "Peter Jamieson" wrote: Make a backup copy of your document before trying this. If you move the data source to a different folder, then open your document,
it wont be able to find its source and you will get an option to remove the merge info. The ctrl + Shift +F9 didnt work for me and this is the only way I can get rid of it.
