Can formulas be used in word tables with split rows/columns?

Yes, but it becomes a bit trickier to determine the cell addresses. You can
use the TableCellHelper macro from
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...eIncorrect.htm or see
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Table_Cell_Data.htm
