Default cannot find the file

When I try to open Word it brings up the word logo and then locks until I go
to task Manager. I can access my excel documents, but again the word screen
locks if I try to open any of the word documents. I can see the names of
them all, but it just won't let me open them. The message it gives me is
"Cannot find the file c:\windows(document name) or one of its components -
Make sure path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are
available".

Please keep your answer as simple as poss as I am an amateur! Help
please.....
