Default Corrupted Document Cause?

I am working with a document that I'm told has a minimum requirement of Word
2002 in Word 2003. I copied the document onto a USB Memory Stick and then
onto the computer with WORD 2003 before attempting to edit. Many of the
documents I've edited have given a message upon open that I need to use the
Open and Repair functionality in Word. There are pictures, tables and a
complicated drawing canvas each document.

What are possible causes to the corruption and what should I do differently
so that this doesnt occur?

Thanks in advance,
Barb Reinhardt

It's possible that there's a glitch in the transmission to the USB stick, or
that the stick itself is damaged. See if first ZIPPING a document before
transferring it helps. Word documents are notorious for being susceptible to
transmission and disk "glitches"; in a Zipped state the critical areas are more
protected.
