delete or convert table to text--deletes footnotes
Hi, I'm trying to help a friend over the phone. She needs to get rid of an
empty table that is nonetheless taking up space in her document and has a border around it. When she uses the Table menu to select the table and then either delete it or convert it to text, all of her footnotes are also deleted. Any suggestions? Thank you! |

It would appear that the footnote references are in the table. They'll need
to be moved out of it before the table is deleted. Possibly they are currently hidden; if so, display of nonprinting characters (Ctrl+* or click the Show/Hide ¶ button) will reveal them. If that doesn't help, then making sure none of the table cells has any negative indents may bring them back in view. You can also double-click on the reference mark in the note itself in order to go to the one in the document, which might help to find it. -- Suzanne S. delete or convert table to text--deletes footnotes
Thank you! I managed to get some time to go over to her office, and did
display non-printing characters. I deleted the table a row at a time, and didn't run into any trouble. I'm not sure why she had trouble, but problem solved! Thanks again! "Suzanne S.
