How do I save changes on a read-only file?
Okay, I have this document I started on my laptop. Then I took the CD I saved
it on to my computer. I typed some more and tried to save it. It wouldn't let me. Could anybody help? Thanks! ~Massie |

How do I save changes on a read-only file?
Hi Massie,
For the immediate problem, use File|Save As and give the file a new name. For future reference, when you copy a file to a CD, it gets marked as read-only at the system level, and that attribute remains when the file is copied to another drive. You can remove the read-only attribute from the copy on disk (not the CD) by selecting the file with Windows Explorer, right-clicking then unchecking the read-only attribute via the properties button.
