Default Restoring deleted autosave

I foolishly thought i saved the proper version of a document and exited out
of the autosave window. The auto save version was in the recycle bin so i
restored it, but now i can't figure out how to open that version or where it
might have went. Can anyone help?

Yes, I did and it wasn't found. Is it lost for good?
