I also have no delete button. when I right click on a doc. there are only 3
options (customize quick access toolbar , show toolbar below ribbon and
minimize ribbon) No delete option can it be restored?

Have you tried going into customize the toolbar and clicking on the COMMANDS
tab then scroll under catergories to where Delete maybe.

There is no built-in feature to selectively remove files from the Recently
Used list. You can go into the Word Options - Advanced & set the number of
files to 0 in order to completely clear the list or perhaps someone can
offer some sort of workaround.
