Default need addon to save docx as a jpg file

Right now I'm saving to PDF and then saving in PDF to jpg. I would like to
skip the pdf part and save from word 2007 directly to a jpg format.

You'll need third party software to do that - Try SnagIt www.techsmith.com.

Well, Word is a *text* based program and JPEG is an *image* file format so
what you're asking is the virtual equivalent of having Photoshop save
pictures as text files. The short answer is No, Word cannot save a document
directly to any type of image format (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, etc.).

If you can describe in more detail what your intent might be perhaps there
are some suggestions to be offered. Perhaps Word isn't even the right
program for creating the type of documents you're trying to produce.

I have well over 1000 pictures to take of small minerals. Most of the
minerals have not been classified yet as to the type and makeup. I photo a
mineral, download the photo from the camera to Windows Photo Gallery where I
can fix and crop the picture. From there I open Word type in a catalog
number and any reference, drag and drop the picture into Word then save it
using the catalog number for a file name.

When the mineral as been classifed, I open the catalog number and I am able
to type in as long a description as necessary or make any changes necessary.

It easier to email the jpg format for a slide show type of viewing and
evaluation.

I do have Adobe V8 and Photoshop V7 but I find Word 2007 simpler to use.

You will find all these tasks much simpler with SnagIt as I suggested
earlier. There is a fully working trial version.
You may also find that Google's free Picassa 2 photo tool is a more
convenient way of downloading and touching up photographs and is worth
installing just for its straightening tool and its ease of shrinking and
exporting graphics to a given size for e-mail.
