Text Effects, or text animation, was removed from the interface in the Font
dialog box in Word 2007, however it can still be added using VBA. Interestingly, if you record a macro and access the Font dialog box the state of property is also recorded (and can be changed) even though it's been visibly removed. In any event, since text animation was available in previous versions it could be present in older documents and the option will suppress it from view.
