Question Quicken and Quattro Pro Compatabilility with Windows Vista

Suzanne has assured me in a previous post that the Word 2002 documents I now have on my computer with XP can be retrieved and used with a new computer that has Vista and Word 2007. The sales people at Best Buy and Circuit City say that it will not work. Where do they get their information?
I am now using Quicken 2004 and Quattro Pro 2002 (which was preloaded on my computer when I bought it) with XP. Will I have a problem with the files I have saved in these applications if I go to Vista? I will no doubt have to purchase a later version of Quatrro and may change to Excel or a newer version of Quattro.

I have heard that SP3 (Service Pack 3) will make some of the older applications like Word 2002 useless. Is this true? I have downloaded SP2 but do not have SP3. I would assume that the latest edition of Windows which is Vista would have this SP3? Am I wrong?

Default Quicken and Quattro Pro Compatabilility with Windows Vista

SP 3 for Office 2003 does cause problems with opening extremely old files
(those created in Word 2.0 and possibly 6.0). This service pack has no
bearing on Office XP, but the same restriction is (AIUI) already built into
Office 2007. Unless you have some of these extremely old files (as opposed
to just Word 2002 files), there should be no issue. Similarly, current
versions of Quicken and Quattro Pro should have no difficulty opening files
from the (slightly) older versions you have.

Salespeople at Best Buy (a) are not experts on everything and (b) possibly
work on commission.
