In Word 2007, when I enter an equation, it starts out in Display mode, but
when I enter text before or after the equation, it shinks. This makes some
equations such as integrals and summations difficult to read. I want to keep
the equation in display mode. One reason to enter text after the equation is
to put an equation number after the equation later on the same line.

When numbering equations, you could use a table layout. As your equation
would be in a different cell than your number, the issue wouldn't appear.
