Default Arrow are appearing in word docs

Where ever there is a tab, an arrow is displayed. How do I get rid of these
arrows?

These are probably Characters you can turn them off by clicking the Character
key again. It looks similar to the (Pi) symbol on your tool bar.
I use Characters when I need to see the formatting of a document... for
example How many spaces between two words or How many lines I need to enter
to the next paragraph.
(.) are spaces
(pi) are enters
(arrows) are tabs
I hope this helps you,
ToniRae
