Specify a fixed value for line spacing. On the Format menu, click
Paragraph. Click the Indents and Spacing tab. Make sure that Line Spacing is set to "Exactly" and type the desired amount in the "At" box. You may have to do some testing to find the appropriate value. Click OK to close the dialog box. I'm not sure why you get a different behavior depending on whether you use the mouse or a keyboard shortcut. But I believe the explanation is the following: There are two ways to subscript (superscript) text. One is to use the Subscript (Superscript) attribute on the Font tab of the Font dialog box, and this (usually) does not affect the line height. The other way is to use the Position option on the Character Spacing tab of that dialog box, which more frequently affect the line height. Most likely, the keyboard shortcut you refer to applies the latter type of formatting on your system.
