This is a very strange issue which I've never heard of before. You
could try to delete the Data key in Windows registry, as suggested in
the following KB articles:

Stefan: More info - I can print the text if I change the color to
anything
but black. I've re-installed Office, deleted and re-installed the
printer and
rebooted several times. I've run a nozzle check and cleaned the
cartridges,
and replaced the black cartridge (Canon i860). I called Canon and
they tell
me the printer is responding to commands correctly so the problem
rests with
Microsoft, according to Canon. The problem occurs even when making
new Word
documents as I discovered this morning. Format the color to grey, or
red and
it prints out just fine. It's almost as if the printer doesn't like
pure
black!

Whern I cut and paste text from websites and select "print", all
I
get is a
blank page. Also, when I type text in a new document, the same
thing
happens.
I can use the printer for other tasks, like photo printing, and
I
can print
web page documents or text directly from the site.
