It selects all text on its own
Thanks, everyone. My best guess is that his keyboard was sticking. (He
has an HP Pavilion notebook, which are notorious for that.) Even
holding SHIFT can cause the CNTRL key to stick. Later he mentioned
other adverse and unexpected actions that can also be executed with a
CNTRL+letter keystroke. I think that was a dead giveaway of the
culprit. Since he's getting a new laptop this week anyway (and it's
not an HP) I'm certain the issue will not resurface.

Does anyone know of an issue in v2007 where as you type it
automatically selects the entire document's text without the user
wanting to do that? A friend says it is happening to him and swears he
is not hitting CNTRL+a by accident. As he gets into typing it suddenly
selects all the text. I'm looking more into the details but want to
see if it rings any bells in the meantime.
