Default How can I edit and resave a "read only" Word file?

I had some work done on rentacoder.com, and the coder sent me my material in
documents that are opening as read-only. It actually let me edit and save the
files with new names, but the problem is that it won't let me take those new
files that I renamed and copy them to my flash drive through Windows
Explorer. I need to get these documents onto a flash drive and on my laptop
so that I can work on them during a trip I'm taking, but I can't get the
files to copy from my hard drive to my flash drive! Windows Explorer keeps
telling me that I can't copy these files becuase they are read-only.

How does this qualify as a Word issue? It would seem to me that
"rentacoder.com" would be the best source of information on why the files
they sent you (for a fee, I presume?) don't work as expected.

Good Luck |:)

It's not a rentacoder issue -- the issue is how do I get read-only files to
stop being classified as read-only?
