Default 2 Headers + 1 Footer = Annoying Issue

Indeed, one of many!

Well, it certainly makes a good argument for displaying nonprinting

marks...

It is counterintuitive and illogical to the point of (IMO) being a bug,
but
I doubt we'll ever see any change in the behavior. I can't imagine what
the
developers were thinking.

Suzanne - thank you very much for your insight and reply. It did

correct
the
problem. This has been one of the most annoying issues I ever had in

Word
that I can remember.

It may not be the issue here, but one fact you may not be aware of is

this:
If you copy text from one footer and paste it into another, no matter

how
carefully you exclude the paragraph mark from what you copy and

include
the
paragraph mark when pasting, Word will still insert an extra, empty
paragraph. It is this empty paragraph that may make one footer
different
from the other; obviously, this problem is easier to spot if you
display
nonprinting characters (Ctrl+Shift+8).

I am very experienced in Word and taught it in seminars to

thousands
of
people for years. You never know everything though, this is my

issue
if
anyone has insight.

I have a document with 2 headers and the same footer. I choose

first
page
header and do my thing with it. Then enter the footer the same.

Margins
for
the pages and distance is the same in setup. The footer on the rest
of

the
document doesn't match to the first page. I try to just inch it up,

but it
throws of the entire document. I also have a snazzy text box shaded

grey
down
the right side of the header that says Notes that is equally messed
up

on
the
first page - doesn't sit in the same spot either. There is an over

2
inch
right margin to wrap the text around this box and a normal left

margin.

Is it a limitation to get the same footer on the first page as the

rest of
the document? Does someone know if this works in 2007? Dazy and

confused -
thanks for your suggestions.
