Default Problem with MSWord Loading

If you have Norton AntiVirus, you need to disable its Office Plug-in. If you
have another AV app, there may be a similar issue.

I have a problem with word. Whenever I click on msword to have it

start/open
up it takes a very long time to load. Somewhere around one to two minutes.

I
do not have this problem loading powerpoint or excel or other applications
within office. This is microsoft office word 2003 running on windows xp. I

do
not have any antivirus software running which would slow it down to my
knowledge but when it opens up a document it says "scanning for viruses"

in
the bottom corner of word.

I really do not know what could be causing this however I may have
configured the booting of the computer at one point a year or so ago. I am
not sure if this is what is causing it to be slow and I do not know if

MSword
is one of those programs that sort of auto-loads when the computer boots.

I'm
not sure...It may be unrelated to that.

Thanks for any help in advance.
