file is below but I can't see Table Tools anywhere TIA Rob Convert a table to text 1.. Select the rows or table that you want to convert to paragraphs. 2.. Under Table Tools, on the Layout tab, in the Data group, click Convert to Text. 3.. Under Separate text at, click the option for the separator character that you want to use in place of the column boundaries. Rows are separated with paragraph marks. |

First, there is no 2008 - at least not before mid-January... and that will
be for Macintosh - so I'll assume you mean Word 2007:-) The Table Tools tab doesn't appear on the Ribbon unless you are actively in a Table. IOW, if your insertion point (cursor) isn't *in* the table or you don't have the table *selected* the Table tools are not available. If the insertion point is in what you believe to be a table & the tab/tools still don't appear then it isn't a table. It may be tabbed text or it may be an inserted object (such as a picture or worksheet). It's also possible that the document has been protected in some way which would prevent you from changing certain things about it. What - exactly - happens when you click what you are calling a table? Describe what you see. -- Regards |:) Bob Jones [MVP] Office:Mac "RFJ" wrote in message ... Assuming you meant Word 2007... The Table Tools tab of the ribbon doesn't
appear until the cursor/selection is inside some table somewhere in the document. That's why step 1 tells you to select the "rows or table" to convert. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
