Hi Heather,
Turning off Track changes only prevents Word from tracking any further changes from that point in time, it doesn't accept or reject the changes you've already made. They're still in 'waiting for your decision' mode. To keep documents from being sent out/published with unresolved/pending changes still in the document Word's default is to display the pending changes when you (or another person) opens the document. You can override that setting for you, for that document in Word options Office Button=Word Options=Trust Center=Trust Center Settings under 'Privacy Options' change the 'Document-specific settings' for 'Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving' Using the 'Document Inspector' in that dialog or when saving from Office Button=Prepare=Inspect Document will let you know if you have pending changes. After the inspection if you see the 'Comments, Revisions, Versions, and Annotations' choice and choose [Remove All] the pending changes are all accepted and track changes will be turned off for you. Whether or not those changes affect the finished file at that point depends on when in the process you save the inspected file. If you want to, instead, selectively incorporate the changes to finalize the document use the Review Ribbon, Changes -Accept or Reject buttons before saving. ============= "Heather Fabries" wrote in message ... Word 2007. I have a document where I am tracking changes. No problem there. Before saving, I change the display to Final and turn off Trach Changes by clicking on the Track Changes button when it is orange and it goes back to its normal color. When I reopen the document it opens in 'Final Showing Markup' mode. How do I get the document to open in 'Final' mode? Thank you.
