Hi all,
Thanks to your posts I was able to figure how to start my page #'s on a page other than the 1st page. In this case I needed page 3 to start numbering as page 1 with the previous two pages blank. The word mvps - Numbering Front Matter answer in previous posts was helpful in figuring out how to "break" and start the page I wanted at page 1. The problem is I only get that page numbered. In other words, the pages below it which should be 2,3,4,5...and so on are blank! I need to get this document out REALLY soon and need your help. Anxiously awaiting an answer......thanks in advance |

If you have "Different first page" enabled, then you need to insert the PAGE
field in the Header/Footer as well as the First Page Header/Footer. -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA "trixiebme" wrote in message ... Hi Suzanne...thanks for your reply,
Since inserting the PAGE was giving me -1- and then inserting Page# was giving me "-1-1" (think I didn't really understand your answer) I disabled "Different first page" and I did get what I wanted except section 1 was numbering pages 2 & 3. Page #2 on the second page I didn't want numbered (the table of contents) and page 3 on the blank section break page (which didn't matter). When I delete the page# on page two-section one "ALL" page numbers of "BOTH" sections delete. I've been at this forever and it's due soon...I'm in trouble here! What could I be doing wrong??? I suspect that the problem arises from the fact that you are using the
Insert | Page Numbers dialog to insert page numbers (that's the only way to get -1- without knowing what you're doing). You need to delete numbers added that way (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...lyIndented.htm for instructions) and then insert the page number using the Insert Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar; for more on headers and footers, see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm -- Suzanne S.
